Job Overview

This role involves designing and implementing urban mobility strategies that integrate public transport, cycling networks, and pedestrian pathways. The ideal candidate will collaborate with municipal authorities, conduct feasibility studies, and leverage smart technology to optimize traffic flow and accessibility in Namibia’s growing urban centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop urban mobility plans aligned with national sustainability goals.
  • Conduct traffic modeling and impact assessments for new infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify community transportation needs.
  • Design multimodal transport systems (e.g., bus rapid transit, bike lanes).
  • Utilize GIS and BIM tools for spatial analysis and 3D modeling.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in urban planning software (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, TransCAD).
  • Knowledge of Namibia’s transportation policies and regulations.
  • Experience with smart city technologies (IoT, traffic sensors).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in urban mobility or infrastructure development.
  • Proven track record in public-private partnership projects.

Salary

30,000 – 45,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
