Job Overview

The Sustainable Livestock Specialist will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of sustainable livestock production systems in Namibia. This will involve working closely with farmers, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify and address the key challenges facing the livestock sector, and developing and implementing effective solutions to improve the sustainability and productivity of livestock production.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in livestock production, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and animal welfare. They will be expected to work closely with a range of stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, policymakers, and other industry experts, to develop and implement effective solutions to the challenges facing the livestock sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainable livestock production systems in Namibia
  • Work closely with farmers, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify and address key challenges facing the livestock sector
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to improve the sustainability and productivity of livestock production
  • Provide technical support and training to farmers and other stakeholders on sustainable livestock production practices
  • Collaborate with other researchers and experts to develop and implement new technologies and innovations in sustainable livestock production

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in livestock production, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and animal welfare
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable livestock production systems and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, policymakers, and other industry experts

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in livestock production, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and animal welfare
