Job Overview
The Construction Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and act as the primary liaison between the client and the on‑site workforce. This position plays a critical role in driving project success and supports Murray & Roberts’ reputation for excellence in the construction sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and project plans.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and procurement teams to ensure design integrity.
- Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and enforce compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage project schedules, identify critical path activities, and implement corrective actions when delays occur.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
- Control project budgets, track expenditures, and approve change orders.
- Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, environmental standards, and quality assurance procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and civil engineering principles.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with Namibia’s construction regulations and permitting processes.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional engineering registration (e.g., ECSA) is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in engineering roles on large‑scale construction projects, preferably within the Southern African region. Demonstrated experience in project delivery, cost control, and stakeholder management is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may also be offered.
