Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead the deployment of wind energy assets in the Karasburg region. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of wind farm installations in the Karasburg district.
- Manage project budgets, procurement schedules, and resource allocation to prevent cost overruns.
- Coordinate with local municipalities and environmental agencies to secure necessary land-use permits and environmental clearances.
- Supervise on-site contractors and engineering teams to ensure technical specifications are met.
- Implement rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols to maintain a zero-accident workplace.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for logistical challenges in remote areas.
- Report project progress, KPIs, and milestones to the regional executive board.
- Foster strong relationships with local communities to ensure social license to operate.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 methodologies.
- Deep technical knowledge of wind turbine technology and electrical grid integration.
- Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong negotiation skills for dealing with vendors and government stakeholders.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a significant advantage.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating energy yield and financial viability.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Renewable Energy Systems is required. A Master’s degree in Project Management or an MBA is highly preferred to complement technical skills with business acumen.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 8 years of professional experience in the energy sector, with a minimum of 5 years specifically managing large-scale renewable energy projects.
