Job Overview

The Network Optimization Specialist will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing optimization strategies to enhance the performance, capacity, and reliability of MTC’s mobile network in the Luderitz region. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive drive‑test and network performance analyses to pinpoint coverage gaps and capacity constraints.
• Develop and implement optimization plans for radio access network (RAN) parameters, including antenna tilt, power settings, and handover algorithms.
• Collaborate with the RF engineering team to design and validate network upgrades, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
• Utilize KPI dashboards and data‑visualization tools to track performance trends and report findings to senior management.
• Coordinate with field technicians to execute configuration changes and verify post‑implementation results.
• Participate in cross‑functional projects such as new site roll‑outs, spectrum refarming, and technology migrations.
• Maintain detailed documentation of optimization activities, methodologies, and outcomes for audit and knowledge‑sharing purposes.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in network analysis tools such as Atoll, TEMS, or NEMO.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret large data sets and translate insights into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of LTE and emerging 5G standards, including carrier aggregation and massive MIMO concepts.
• Problem‑solving orientation and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with Namibian telecom regulations and spectrum allocation policies.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Nokia NRS, or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience

Candidates should possess 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in mobile network planning, optimization, or performance engineering. Prior exposure to the Southern African telecom market, especially within Namibia, will be considered a strong asset.
