Job Overview

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and supervision of structural components for a variety of construction projects in the northern region of Namibia. Working closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams, the engineer will ensure that all designs meet local codes, international standards, and client specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed structural designs for residential, commercial, and industrial projects using advanced software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and AutoCAD.
• Perform structural analysis to verify load‑bearing capacity, stability, and compliance with Namibian building regulations.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and calculation reports for submission to clients and authorities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural solutions with architectural and MEP designs.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction to resolve design‑related issues.
• Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material specifications.
• Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in structural design software (SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of concrete, steel, and composite construction methods.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to interpret and apply Namibia’s building codes and international standards such as Eurocode.
• Project management capabilities, including time‑line coordination and cost control.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering is required. Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN) or equivalent accreditation is highly desirable.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five to seven years of hands‑on experience in structural design and project delivery within the construction industry. Experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects in Namibia or the Southern African region will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be included as part of the total compensation package.
