ICOMOS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Heritage Preservation Specialist to join our team in Omaruru, Namibia. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital preservation strategies for cultural heritage sites in Namibia.

Job Overview

The Digital Heritage Preservation Specialist will work closely with the ICOMOS team to develop and implement digital preservation strategies for cultural heritage sites in Namibia. This will involve conducting site assessments, developing digital preservation plans, and implementing digital preservation techniques.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in cultural heritage preservation and digital technologies. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments to identify digital preservation needs
  • Develop digital preservation plans for cultural heritage sites
  • Implement digital preservation techniques, including digitization and digital storage
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote the importance of digital heritage preservation
  • Develop and deliver training programs on digital heritage preservation

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as cultural heritage preservation, digital humanities, or computer science
  • At least 5 years of experience in cultural heritage preservation or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of digital preservation techniques and technologies
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
