Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will lead the technical planning, design, and execution of solar and wind power projects within the Otjiwarongo region and beyond. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, external consultants, and government agencies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies and site assessments for solar and wind projects.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory approvals with local authorities and stakeholders.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
• Oversee procurement, installation, and commissioning of renewable energy equipment.
• Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure seamless handover and integration into the grid.
• Monitor project performance, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare progress reports and present findings to senior management and external partners.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar PV and wind turbine technologies.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, and WindPro.
• Excellent project management and stakeholder communication abilities.
• Analytical problem‑solving skills with a focus on sustainability.
• Ability to interpret and apply local and international electrical codes and standards.
• Experience with grid integration studies and power system analysis.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or renewable energy (e.g., NABCEP) are considered advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional excellence.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands‑on experience delivering renewable energy projects, with a proven track record of managing all phases from concept through commissioning. Experience working within the Namibian regulatory environment or similar African markets is highly valued, as is familiarity with local grid interconnection procedures.

Salary
