AWF is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainable Tourism Development Manager to join our team in Usakos, Namibia. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable tourism initiatives that support the conservation of wildlife and their habitats.
Job Overview
The Sustainable Tourism Development Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable tourism initiatives that support the conservation of wildlife and their habitats. The successful candidate will work closely with local communities, tour operators, and other stakeholders to develop and promote sustainable tourism products and services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainable tourism development, conservation, and community engagement. They will have excellent communication and project management skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainable tourism initiatives that support the conservation of wildlife and their habitats
- Work closely with local communities, tour operators, and other stakeholders to develop and promote sustainable tourism products and services
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for sustainable tourism development
- Develop and manage budgets and financial reports for sustainable tourism initiatives
- Collaborate with other AWF departments to ensure that sustainable tourism initiatives are aligned with AWF’s overall conservation goals
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. conservation, tourism, business administration)
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable tourism development, conservation, or a related field
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
