Job Overview
The Network Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and expanding MTC’s radio access network (RAN) to ensure high‑quality coverage and capacity for customers in the northern regions, including the Oshikango border area. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive radio frequency (RF) planning and optimization for existing and new sites in the Oshikango region.
- Perform drive‑test measurements, analyze data, and generate actionable recommendations to improve coverage and capacity.
- Develop and maintain network performance models, capacity forecasts, and KPI dashboards.
- Collaborate with civil, RF, and transmission teams to ensure seamless site acquisition, construction, and integration.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, configuration files, and handover packages for implementation teams.
- Monitor network performance post‑deployment, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies such as 5G, Massive MIMO, and network slicing, and propose integration strategies.
- Ensure compliance with Namibian communications regulations and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in RF planning tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, Mentum Planet).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in drive‑test tools (e.g., TEMS, Nemo).
- Solid understanding of LTE/4G architecture, with knowledge of 5G fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret network KPIs and translate them into optimization actions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Project management experience, including timeline and resource coordination.
- Familiarity with Namibian spectrum allocation and regulatory requirements.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson) will be given preference.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in telecom network planning, optimization, or a similar role within a mobile operator or a consultancy serving the telecommunications sector. Experience in the Southern African market, particularly in cross‑border regions, is highly advantageous.
Salary
The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are also part of the remuneration package.
