Job Overview
The Network Optimization Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and enhancing the performance of MTN Namibia’s radio access network (RAN) and core infrastructure. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the engineer will implement optimization strategies, conduct drive tests, and leverage advanced analytics to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and quality of service. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze network performance data to identify coverage gaps, capacity constraints, and quality issues.
- Develop and implement optimization plans for LTE and emerging 5G networks, including parameter tuning and antenna configuration.
- Conduct field drive tests, collect KPI measurements, and validate optimization outcomes.
- Collaborate with RF planning, engineering, and operations teams to align optimization activities with rollout schedules.
- Utilize network simulation tools and AI‑driven analytics to forecast traffic growth and recommend infrastructure upgrades.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support troubleshooting of network incidents and provide actionable recommendations for rapid resolution.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python).
- In‑depth understanding of LTE, 5G NR, and core network architectures.
- Experience with drive‑test equipment and KPI analysis (e.g., TEMS, Nemo).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Team‑player mindset with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Nokia NRS, or Huawei HCIA are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in network planning, optimization, or performance engineering within a telecom operator or a major equipment vendor. Prior involvement in 5G rollout projects is highly desirable.
Salary
