Job Overview

The AgriTech Innovation Specialist will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge agricultural technologies tailored to Namibia’s unique environmental conditions. This role involves collaborating with farmers, tech developers, and research institutions to design scalable solutions that enhance crop yields, reduce resource waste, and promote eco-friendly practices. The position is ideal for a forward-thinking professional passionate about merging technology with traditional farming to create sustainable food systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy AgriTech solutions such as soil sensors, automated irrigation systems, and farm management software.
  • Conduct field trials to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies in diverse agricultural settings.
  • Collaborate with local farmers to identify challenges and co-create practical technological interventions.
  • Provide training and technical support to stakeholders on the use of AgriTech tools.
  • Monitor and analyze data to improve the efficiency of agricultural processes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for funding bodies and government agencies.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AgriTech platforms like FarmBeats or AgriWebb.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable resource management.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Technology, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in AgriTech or Digital Agriculture is highly advantageous.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology, sustainable farming solutions, or rural development projects. Prior experience in Namibia’s agricultural sector is preferred.

Salary

120,000 – 150,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
