Job Overview

The Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer will lead Huawei Namibia’s efforts to embed ethical principles into AI product development, deployment, and governance. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the role will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, legal counsel, and business units to assess ethical risks, develop policy frameworks, and ensure compliance with local and international regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an AI Ethics framework aligned with global best practices and Namibian regulations.
  • Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI models, data pipelines, and deployment scenarios.
  • Collaborate with product teams to embed fairness, accountability, and transparency into AI lifecycle processes.
  • Provide guidance on data privacy, consent management, and responsible data usage.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on compliance implications.
  • Lead internal training sessions and workshops on AI ethics for technical and non‑technical staff.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, NGOs, and academic institutions, to promote responsible AI adoption.
  • Prepare and present ethical audit reports, metrics, and recommendations to executive management.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, data governance, and ethical risk mitigation.
  • Strong knowledge of international AI ethics guidelines (e.g., OECD, EU AI Act) and Namibian data protection laws.

Education

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, data governance, compliance, or a related field, preferably within a technology or telecommunications environment. Demonstrated track record of developing ethical frameworks and conducting impact assessments is essential.

Salary
