Job Overview

As a Cultural Heritage Preservation Officer, you will lead efforts to document, protect, and promote Namibia’s cultural assets. This role combines fieldwork, research, and community engagement to ensure the long-term preservation of heritage sites and traditions. The position is based in Oshawa, a key hub for cultural tourism in northern Namibia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments and risk evaluations for cultural heritage locations.
  • Develop and implement conservation plans for archaeological and historical sites.
  • Collaborate with local communities to document oral histories and traditional practices.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and international partners on heritage protection projects.
  • Design educational materials and public outreach programs to raise awareness of cultural heritage.

Required Skills

Education

Experience

3-5 years of professional experience in cultural heritage preservation, with a focus on site management, community engagement, or heritage tourism. Experience in Namibia or Southern Africa is preferred.

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
