Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Heritage Conservation Specialist to join our team in Omaruru, Namibia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conservation and preservation of digital cultural heritage assets, including digital images, videos, and other multimedia materials.

The Digital Heritage Conservation Specialist will work closely with our conservation team to develop and implement digital preservation strategies, ensuring the long-term accessibility and usability of our digital collections. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital conservation, excellent technical skills, and a passion for cultural heritage preservation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital preservation strategies for our digital cultural heritage assets
  • Collaborate with the conservation team to ensure the long-term accessibility and usability of our digital collections
  • Conduct regular backups and data migrations to ensure the integrity of our digital assets
  • Develop and maintain documentation of our digital preservation processes and procedures
  • Provide training and support to staff on digital preservation best practices

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Digital Conservation, Cultural Heritage Preservation, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in digital conservation or a related field
  • Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in digital preservation software and hardware
  • Strong knowledge of digital preservation standards and best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Digital Conservation, Cultural Heritage Preservation, or Museum Studies.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in digital conservation or a related field.
