As a Marine Biologist with WWF, you will play a critical role in our efforts to conserve Namibia’s rich marine biodiversity. You will work closely with our team of conservationists, scientists, and community engagement specialists to develop and implement effective conservation strategies.

The Marine Biologist will be responsible for leading our marine conservation efforts in Namibia. This will involve conducting research on marine ecosystems, developing conservation plans, and working with stakeholders to implement conservation actions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine biology, with a focus on conservation and management of marine ecosystems. They will have excellent research and analytical skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex scientific information to non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on marine ecosystems in Namibia, including the impacts of climate change, overfishing, and pollution
• Develop conservation plans and strategies for marine protected areas and other conservation initiatives
• Work with stakeholders, including government agencies, fishing industries, and local communities, to implement conservation actions
• Collaborate with other WWF teams, including our climate and energy team, to address the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems
• Develop and manage budgets for marine conservation projects

Required Skills

• Master’s degree in marine biology, ecology, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in marine conservation, research, or management
• Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to design and implement research projects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Experience working in Namibia or a similar context, with knowledge of local marine ecosystems and conservation issues
