Job Overview

The Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and expanding MTC’s radio access network (RAN) across the southern coastal region, with a focus on Lüderitz and surrounding districts. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop network plans that meet capacity, coverage, and performance targets while adhering to regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring seamless service delivery, supporting the company’s hiring in Namibia initiatives, and enhancing the overall customer experience. The role involves extensive data analysis, simulation, and field verification to guarantee that network deployments align with business objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed RF planning models for new site deployments and network upgrades.
• Conduct coverage and capacity analysis using industry‑standard tools such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
• Coordinate with civil, RF, and procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of equipment and site permissions.
• Perform drive‑test measurements and post‑deployment validation to verify network performance.
• Generate technical reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of network topology, parameters, and optimization strategies.
• Stay informed on emerging telecom technologies and recommend enhancements to support future 5G rollouts.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in RF planning and optimization software (e.g., Atoll, Planet, iBwave).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Knowledge of Namibian telecom regulations and spectrum allocation.
• Project management experience, including timeline and resource coordination.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Radio Planner (CRP) or equivalent are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.

Experience

Candidates must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in radio network planning, preferably within a mobile operator environment. Experience with both 4G LTE and early‑stage 5G deployments will be highly valued.

Salary
