Job Overview
The Risk Modelling Analyst will play a pivotal role in strengthening Bank Windhoek’s risk management framework. Reporting to the Head of Risk Analytics, the analyst will design, develop, and maintain quantitative risk models that support credit, market, and operational risk assessments. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate statistical and machine‑learning models for credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
- Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of macro‑economic changes on the bank’s portfolio.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure high‑quality data pipelines for model inputs.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor model performance, conduct back‑testing, and implement model recalibrations as needed.
- Support the development of the bank’s risk appetite framework and capital allocation strategies.
- Stay updated on emerging risk modelling techniques and regulatory developments in Namibia and the broader Southern African region.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB.
- Strong knowledge of Basel III/IV regulatory requirements and local banking regulations.
- Experience with credit scoring, PD/LGD/EAD modelling, and VaR calculations.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills to translate complex model outcomes into actionable business insights.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline is required. Candidates holding a master’s degree or professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) will be given preference.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in risk modelling within a banking or financial services environment. Prior exposure to large‑scale data sets, model governance, and regulatory reporting is essential.
Salary
