Job Overview

The Sustainability Analyst will support the Corporate Sustainability department by collecting, analysing, and reporting environmental data across De Beers’ Namibian operations. This role will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop actionable insights that drive continuous improvement in resource efficiency, emissions reduction, and community impact. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing internal and external sustainability reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and validate environmental performance data from mining sites, including water usage, energy consumption, and waste management.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual sustainability reports in line with GRI, SASB, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify improvement opportunities and support the implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate with operations, health & safety, and community liaison teams to integrate sustainability metrics into project planning.
  • Assist in the development of sustainability KPIs and dashboards for senior management review.
  • Support external audits and stakeholder engagements, providing accurate data and documentation.
  • Stay updated on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices relevant to the mining sector.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations in Namibia and international sustainability frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
  • Familiarity with GIS or environmental monitoring software is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Ecology, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications such as LEED, GRI, or a Master’s degree are considered a strong asset.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability analysis, environmental reporting, or a comparable role within the mining or heavy‑industry sector.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of NAD 250,000 to NAD 350,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
