Job Overview

The Solar Power Plant Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day performance of NamPower’s flagship solar facility located near Oshakati. Reporting to the Director of Renewable Energy, the manager will ensure optimal plant availability, efficiency, and safety while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all operational activities of the solar power plant, ensuring compliance with performance targets and regulatory standards.
• Monitor plant performance metrics, analyze data, and implement corrective actions to maximize energy output and reduce downtime.
• Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules, coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the grid operations center to synchronize plant output with national load requirements.
• Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
• Oversee procurement of spare parts and consumables, optimizing inventory levels and cost efficiency.
• Drive implementation of advanced monitoring technologies and digital tools for real‑time plant analytics.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, plant operations, and grid integration.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities in a technical environment.

• Familiarity with international standards such as IEC 61724, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in renewable energy, such as a Certified Solar PV Professional (CSPV) or equivalent, are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in power plant operations, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within the solar or broader renewable energy sector. Salary
